The short version:Bean & Burr earns a commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. It is how the site is funded. It never changes our rankings, and we tell you plainly when the cheaper product is the better buy.

How our links work

Bean & Burr is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

When you click a "View on Amazon" or "Check price" button on this site, it passes through our own redirect so we can attach our affiliate tag, then sends you to Amazon. If you buy something during that visit, Amazon pays us a small percentage. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid otherwise — the commission comes out of Amazon's margin, not your pocket.

Amazon-first, and honest about it

Right now, Amazon is the only retailer we have an affiliate relationship with in this category, so every buy link on the site is an Amazon link. If we ever add another retailer we've genuinely joined, we'll route the relevant links there and this page will say so. We will never wire tracking for a program we haven't actually joined, and if we link a retailer we earn nothing from, we'll tell you we earn nothing.

Our promise about rankings

  • Commission never decides a ranking. We rank on a published rubric, and you'll routinely find cheaper, lower-commission products ranked above expensive ones.
  • No paid placements. No brand can pay to appear, to rank higher, or to avoid a bad write-up.
  • No free products for coverage.No manufacturer sends us gear, and none sees our copy before it's published.
  • Prices are live, not promotional.Every price comes from Amazon's API and is stamped with a date. If it goes stale, it disappears rather than misleading you.
