How we work

Editorial Policy

This page is the standard we hold ourselves to. If we ever fall short of it, tell us — the contact details are at the bottom.

Independence

  • No paid placements. No brand can pay to appear on the site, to rank higher, or to soften a review. Money never buys a position.
  • No free products for coverage.Manufacturers don't send us gear in exchange for reviews, and none sees our copy before it publishes.
  • Commission never changes a ranking. We're funded by Amazon affiliate commissions, and we routinely rank cheaper, lower-commission products above expensive ones. If we didn't, this policy would be words.

How we research and score

Every review follows the method on our How We Researchpage: published manufacturer specifications treated as claims, primary standards cited by name, cost-to-run arithmetic shown in full, and a scoring rubric we publish. We do not run a testing lab and we never claim to. Where we can't verify something, we say so on the page.

Accuracy and corrections

  • Prices are live. They come from Amazon's API, are date-stamped, and vanish rather than go stale past 48 hours.
  • We correct factual errors within 48 hours of confirming them, with a visible note on the affected page where the change is material.
  • We never fabricate. No invented specs, prices, ratings, review counts, or testimonials. We have no customers and we sell nothing, so there are no customer reviews to quote.

How and why our picks change

Our rankings are not frozen. A pick can move because a new model launched, an old one was discontinued, or — because our Value score uses the live price — a product went on sale. When a ranking changes for a substantive reason, the page's "updated" date reflects it. We only bump that date on real changes, not to fake freshness.

Sources and attribution

Where a factual claim rests on someone else's data — a manufacturer spec sheet, a published standard — we name and link it in a Sources block. Borrowing authority with attribution is honest; implying someone else's measurements are ours is not, and we don't do it.
